Leaks waste a great deal of water, which contributes to the amount of non-revenue water that is produced and lost before it reaches the customer. This can place a considerable financial burden on the municipality.
Leak Detection
As many cities face aging pipelines and water supply systems, leaks are becoming more frequent and more costly. In many communities, anywhere from 10% to 20% of water pumped into distribution systems can be lost due to various leaks. As infrastructure gets older, the water loss rises even higher. Water infrastructure needs critical attention to offset disruptions caused by broken water mains and the daily impact of water loss, both fiscal and environmental.
We use top quality equipment, including the Gutermann AquaScan 610 and AquaScope 3, which allows us
to quickly identify problems areas within feet of the defect.
No time is ideal to have a leak – we are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Municipal Surveys
Finding and fixing leaks is a great way to conduct preventative maintenance and identify the most pressing issues for repair in your system. Our surveys analyze city water mains to help you make the most informed choices on repair prioritization.
We provide comprehensive leak detection services for water distribution systems throughout the state of Wisconsin.
The survey is conducted in two main phases:
- Listening Phase – gathering data from the system
- Pinpointing Phase – finalize details and build reports
The municipality stays informed through the survey as leaks are identified and correlated. After the survey is completed, we provide a comprehensive report with locations of each leak, GPS locations, estimates for water and financial loss, and recommendations for the future.
Targeted Leak Surveys
We use ZONESCAN 850 digital data loggers that record noise levels throughout a predetermined period of time (example: overnight), record the sound frequency spectrum, and correlate between the different loggers in the kit. It allows us to avoid false positives by filtering out other noise sources and by pinpointing the exact location of leaks using cross-correlation techniques between the set of loggers. This allows for a larger, more concentrated area (example: trailer parks, apartment complexes) to be surveyed all at once.
